How to Prepare / Make / Cook - ?DIETARY FIBRE Dietary fibre is that part of food that is not digested by the gut and is considered as unavailable carbohydrate. Dietary fiber present in vegetable, fruits, legumes and fenugreek seeds is soluble in nature and is more effective in controlling blood sugar and serum lipids than insoluble fibre present in cereals and millets. However, long term consumption of insoluble fibre also improves glucose tolerance. Diets containing high dietary fibre can reduce blood sugar, serum cholesterol and relieve constipation. High fibre foods have low caloric value and low glycaemic index and therefore
diabeteics should eat more of foods containing dietary fibre.
